Water is topic for Hindman council

Hindman City Council heard encouraging reports from three guest speakers during Monday night’s regular meeting. Topics discussed by the speakers were completing the Litt Carr pump station project, funds availability, and partial solution found for Perkins-Madden clogged sewer lines. Jarrod Salmons of RM Johnson Engineering said they were finishing the Litt Carr pump station construction located at Jerry Davidson’s on Highway 160. They completed steps to reverse the flow of water and took steps necessary toward taking the city water treatment plant offline. The new pump will help with pressure issues when customers, such as residents in the Frogtown community in Hindman, come online with the county water system.

Once the water treatment plant in Hindman is taken offline more people will receive clean water from the Carr Creek Lake via the Knott County Water system. He noted that all of the startup procedures were fine.

Salmons said the issue at Seals Hollow is resolved now. Customers in Seals Hollow had a low-pressure problem causing their water to run at a low flow or not at all. Engineers took steps to solve the problem.

After advising everyone that the new pump station project in Litt Carr was finished, Salmons added, “If all agree we will close out the project.”

The engineer submitted two invoices for payment. The council approved one requisition for the amount of approximately $77,115 and another requisition for approximately $17,400…
