Patriots Fall to Hazard

J.T. Campbell slams the ball for a hit

 

The 2012 Knott County Central baseball season came to a close with a 7-4 loss to Hazard in the first round of the 14th region baseball tournament. Knott County finished off a pretty decent season, considering they were facing a massive re-building project with the loss of 6 seniors from last years squad. Several young players will return next year as the Patriots strive for another state tournament berth.

Seth Adams and Chance Cornett were stranded by the Patriots in the first inning. Hazard scored 3 runs to take the lead in the second inning.

Knott County came back to tie the game in the third. Austin Mullins and Seth Adams cracked back to back singles. Chance Cornett walked to load the bases.

Zach Johnson made contact and Hazard commited two errors as Mullins, Adams and Cornett all crossed home plate to tie the game.

Knott County took a 4-3 lead in the 4th. Bristol Mcghee cracked a single and stole second. Austyn Turner sacraficed McGhee to third and he scored as JT Campbell ripped a base hit.

Hazard scored two runs off two Knott County errors in the 5th as they re-took the lead.

Knott County left Seth Adams and Zach Johnson on base in the 5th as the rally died.
