Bentley killed in Garner crash

The Garner community is mourning the passing of one of their young residents. Cody Bentley, 18, of Garner was killed in an accident in the “Mosley Town” area of Garner that occurred around 10 a.m. Friday morning, June 29.

According to Kentucky State Police Trooper Jody Sims, Bentley was traveling east on Hwy. 550 on a 2009 Honda dirt bike when he crossed the centerline into the westbound lane and struck a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by Joyce Osborne, 65, of Topmost. Osbourne was traveling westbound toward Hindman.

A witness advised that Bentley pulled out from his residence and veered across the centerline. He was wearing a helmet. Bentley was transported by Trans-Star Ambulance Service to Hazard ARH where we was pronounced deceased. There was no indication of alcohol or drug use by either driver.

Cody Lee Bentley was born on October 5, 1993, to Randy Lee Bentley and Vicky Mosley.

He is survived by his parents, paternal grandparents- Bobby and Jewell Bentley; Linda Price, maternal grandparents- John Willie and Charlene Mosley, son- Jayden Brylee Bentley, brothers- Jordan Keith Bentley, Brandon Ray Allen Bentley, Dalton Blake Bentley, sisters- Jessica Gail Bentley, Kendra Lynn Bentley, Casey Renae Bentley, Tasha Lynn Bentley, uncles- Timmy Bentley, Keith Bentley, John Mosley, Scottie Mosley, and aunt-Teresa Stumbo.
