A two-vehicle accident occurred around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 18 in front of KC Grocery on Hwy. 7 in Kite. According to Kentucky State Police Trooper Jody Sims, a black 2006 Hyundai Sonata pulled out of the parking lot of the grocery store and into the path of a 2005 Chevy Colorado. The Sonata, operated by Amanda Isaacs, 24, of Kite was struck in the side by the truck, operated by Shawn Kendrick, 28, of Grethel (Floyd County). Isaacs sustained multiple injuries to her head, abdomen, and foot. TranStar Ambulance Service transported her to a landing zone secured by Knott County Rescue Squad. Isaacs was then transferred to an AirMed medical helicopter and taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, West Virginia. Kendrick reported no injuries.
