Traffic stop yields 3 arrests

A traffic stop in Knott County this week led to three arrests, Knott County Sheriff Dale Richardson told the Times.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Joe Dials conducted the traffic stop in the Litt Carr community. It resulted in the arrest of Hubert Pratt (date of birth August 19, 1960). He was charged with DUI first offense, no insurance card, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, failure to wear seat belt and improper signal.

Also arrested was Patrick Madden, Jr. (aka P.J. – date of birth July 19, 1984). He was charged with possession of a controlled substance third degree, and possession of marijuana.

Sheriff Richardson advised that further investigation was conducted, which culminated in the issuance of a search warrant for a residence in the Walnut Hollow section of Pine Top. Officers with the Knott County Sheriff’s Department, Kentucky State Police, members of HIDTA and Drug Enforcement Special Investigation East carried out the search warrant.

As a result, Yeart Pratt, Jr. (aka Peewee) was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, illegal possession of legend drugs, and prescription drugs not in proper container. Seized during the search were one handgun, $4,360.00 in cash, as well as 31 Gabapentin 800 mg., eight 15 mg. Oxycodone and three 10 mg Oxycodone.

All three men were lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail. Investigation is continuing by detectives with Appalachian HIDTA and the Knott County Sheriff’s Department.
