Gates for fall trail ride open Sunday

The annual fall horse trail ride, Knott County’s signature tourism event, officially begins on Thursday, Oct. 4. Gates will open at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30, for those arriving early.

Horse owners are reminded to bring current health certificates and proof of Coggins testing. State officials attend these events unannounced to check participants at the gate, and they will not allow anyone to enter without these documents.

Cost for the event remains the same as in the spring, $20 per person — children 12 and under are admitted free.

Three nights of entertainment are planned for this fall, with Bluegrass music featured on Thursday night. Headlining band for Saturday night is Sawyer Brown!
