There is a bright spot in Knott County’s economic future this week — Judge-Executive Zach Weinberg confirmed that the old Enterprise Mine on Defeated Creek at Red Fox will be open again within the next two weeks.
“I spoke with a representative of Kingdom Resources, based in Texas,” Judge Weinberg said. “They are taking applications, have already hired some workers and plan to start out with 60. If all goes well, they are aiming to expand that to around 120 employees. We asked if they could use local miners and truckers, and they said that is their intent. The mine will operate under the name Kingdom Coal, and they say there is a lot of coal there. It means jobs, which is great.”…
