Family Dollar is now open at Topmost in the Beaver community. The three-day grand opening celebration kicked off Thursday with giveaways and prizes including gift bags, gift cards, cookies and gift basket raffles. In addition, on Saturday, the first 50 customers that came in received a Family Dollar gift card. Around noon a ribbon cutting was held for the new Family Dollar store.

Store Manager Alisha Turner said the corporation studied the Beaver neighborhood as a viable location for a store. “Family Dollar did a survey. It was income based. Their research found it would be a great thing for the community. That is why they opened the Topmost store. It’s for the community.”

District Manager Richard Fisher of Sneedville, Tennessee attended Saturday’s grand opening of the Topmost Family Dollar. Fisher’s region runs from Sneedville to Topmost and includes parts of Tennessee, Virginia, and Kentucky.

“The new location joins more than 8,000 Family Dollars throughout the country,” said Fisher. “The chain is headquartered in Matthews, North Carolina. It is a subsidiary of the Dollar Tree headquartered in Chesapeake, Virginia.”

Family Dollar stores are open seven days a week and offer everyday items for the entire family in an easy-to-shop neighborhood location. The new Topmost Family Dollar store is located at 6731 Highway 7 South.

Turner stated, “It’s more convenient for people in the community. They don’t have to travel 30 to 40 minutes to get paper plates or toilet paper. People were lined up when we opened. People were coming to the store before we opened. A lot of people coming into the store said they were glad it’s here.”

Heather Briganti, a Family Dollar spokesperson said, “Our customers can rely on Family Dollar for everyday low prices on household products, food, beauty and essentials, seasonal merchandise, apparel and much more.”

Turner expressed appreciation for the local fire department grilling hot dogs and serving food for Saturday’s event. In appreciation, Topmost Family Dollar donated $100 to the fire department. Also, on Saturday the store gave away four gift baskets, $100 gift card, $50 gift card, and a $25 gift card. Children entered a coloring contest and four kids received a $5 gift card. The store has brought jobs to the Topmost community. There are currently eight people employed at the Topmost Family Dollar.
