Armed robbery in Knott County

On February 11, 2012 at approximately 4:57 p.m., Kentucky State Police Post 13 in Hazard received a 911 call advising of a possible armed robbery at the Electric Beach in the Mallie community of Knott County.

Trooper Randall Riley, Detective Kevin Hurt and officers from the Knott County Sheriff’s Office responded, and it was determined a white male subject had come into the Electric Beach while an employee was cleaning and demanded money from the employee. According to police reports, the employee gave the money to the suspect, but was scratched by a knife that the suspect was holding.

The suspect is believed to be a white male subject approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall with a slender build. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a brown ski mask, light colored blue jeans, white ball shoes, and rubber gloves. The investigation is ongoing at this time by the Kentucky State Police Post in Hazard.
