County to have wet/dry election

The Troublesome Creek Times has just learned that Knott County will in fact hold a wet/dry vote in the upcoming months. A special election will be called following a local petition to have citizens vote on whether the county shall permit the sales of alcohol, which had enough names to mandate the election. The date of the election will be released officially in tomorrow’s newspaper…

This is probably the only way the county is going to get any tax money for the county goverment; Its sad it has come to this point.

This should have passed 30 years ago. We might would actually have a tax base and be able to pay our workers by now if it had. God bless the democratic process, we can finally vote on an important issue and hopefully get things back on track around here.

We’re losing jobs and running out of money. Any new business is good business. It would be nice to be able to keep some money in our own county instead of sending it to the surrounding wet counties. We have plenty of projects and programs this revenue could fund, and plenty of people looking for work to fill jobs it could create.
