Halcomb’s Grocery closes doors

A page in the history of Knott County is turning. After 64 years, the family owned and operated Halcomb’s Grocery in Hindman is closing its doors. The store will reopen this week under Dion Slone, of D’s Stop N’ Shop, who will lease the gas station.

For the Halcomb family it’s a somber event.

“It is a sad time for us,” expressed Faye Halcomb. “We are losing our store clerks and will miss seeing our customers and friends.”
